(Sacramento, CA)  — A bill proposed in California wants to punish registered voters who don’t go to the polls.  AB2070, authored by Democratic Assemblyman Marc Levine, would require every California resident to participate in every election in their community.  The bill does not specify a punishment for failing to vote, instead, leaving that up to the California Secretary of State. (National Harbor, MD)  — Utah Senator Mitt Romney is being discouraged from attending a conservative conference in Maryland.  After Romney cast the single Republican vote to convict President Trump, he was uninvited to the Conservative Political Action Conference in National Harbor this month.  CPAC Chairman Matt Schlapp says Romney’s safety would be at risk and he would not be registered as a conservative, should he choose to attend. (San Diego, CA)  — Congressman Duncan Hunter is facing years behind bars after pleading guilty today to one count of misusing campaign funds.  The San Diego Republican is now admitting to using the funds on personal expenses. The fight for the freedom of a 12,000 pound killer whale, named Tillikum, has come along way since it began in 2011, SeaWorld’s largest orca and focal point of the documentary Blackfish. Underneath the roar erupting from Sun Devil Stadium yesterday as the Territorial Cup was reclaimed from the Arizona Wildcats, a reckless crime was committed as Tempe students were distracted. Students were alerted via ASU’s Emergency texting service to stay clear of Rural and Apache area following a drive-by shooting that occurred at around 3:45 p.m. The text was evidently written quickly, ridden with typos and abbreviations in an attempt to keep students safe. The program is an expansion of the Home in Five Advantage program created in 2012 by the Phoenix and Maricopa County industrial development authorities to help low- and middle-income buyers purchase homes. The program offers down payment and closing-cost assistance to borrowers, military personnel and now teachers and a host of first responders.
