(Los Angeles, CA)  — Los Angeles is reporting 200 new coronavirus cases today, bringing the total to three-thousand-787.  Mayor Eric Garcetti says there were 18 new deaths today, bringing the total to 241 across the county. However, Garcetti says things are improving as deaths are only doubling every six days.  Testing is also steadily increasing in Los Angeles County, now with 22 testing locations open. Garcetti noted testing is doubling in South Los Angeles as a way to fight disproportional infection rates among Hispanics and African Americans.  Garcetti also announced a new Loyola Marymount University survey among Los Angeles residents, showing 95-percent support the safer-at-home order, which is now extended to May 15th.  The survey found that one in five Angelenos has lost their job or had hours reduced because of the pandemic.
