Governor Laura Kelly has reportedly put in seven requests to FEMA for medical supplies for their state stockpile and claims she has heard no response. He says traditionally when natural emergencies strike a state, officials are accustomed to using emergency declarations to gain access to resources. But with this international viral pandemic, the Administration is doing its best to coordinate resources via a national declaration. Pence says the coronavirus task force is looking at Kansas’ cases every day and they will work their heart out to make sure medical personnel have what they need.

Pence says no community will be abandoned in the coronavirus pandemic.

“We make sure as the coronavirus epidemic impacts individual areas, that the healthcare workers and the families and the patients impacted have what they need, when they need it.”

Pence says following the guidelines of the task force is the best way to stop the spread of the virus.

“Great work that Kansas has done on social distancing and mitigation.  The people of Kansas have done a wonderful job.”
