(West Warwick, RI)  — A Rhode Island Catholic priest is denying holy sacraments to lawmakers who supported an abortion rights bill.  Reverend Richard Bucci of Sacred Heart Church in West Warwick says those who voted in favor of the Reproductive Privacy Act Bill will no longer be allowed to take communion, witness marriages or serve as god parents.  The Privacy Act Bill would put the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision into law.

Rhode Island lawmakers are already feeling the impact of Bucci’s blacklist.  State Senator Adam Satchell says he can no longer be his niece’s godfather and Representative Carol Hagan McEntee was forbidden from giving a eulogy at a relative’s funeral.  McEntee says she’s especially angry with Sacred Heart Church because many years ago, a priest there allegedly sexually abused her sister as a child. NBC-10 reports Reverend Bucci defended the church by saying pedophilia doesn’t kill anyone.
